Infection Control

Dentist in Washington, DC

Our priority as your dental care provider has always been to preserve and protect your health and safety. As usual, we continue to follow all guidelines set forth by the CDC, OSHA, and the ADA. We have always provided a sterile, safe, environment to protect your health, both oral and otherwise.

An outline of some of our precautionary measures:

Hand Hygiene
Proper handwashing is one of the most important measures our team takes to prevent the spread of infection. For routine dental exams and nonsurgical procedures, we wash thoroughly with water and hand soap specifically created for healthcare settings.

Pre Screening Questions
We ask patients to complete a pre-screening form before arriving at our office to ensure they are free of COVID. We also will perform temperature and pulse oxygen checks when you arrive, and have patients wash their hands when they arrive. We may also utilize infrared thermometers, pulse oximeters, and special hydrogen peroxide patient rinses to ensure safety.

Personal Protective Equipment
We possess and use all necessary protective equipment, including face masks, gloves, protective eyewear, and protective clothing. Worn by our team and changed regularly, Personal Protective Equipment is designed to protect everyone in our practice from exposure to infectious agents.

This protective equipment includes:

  • N95 masks
  • Gloves
  • Face shields
  • Hair bouffant caps
  • Shoe covers
  • Gowns
  • Patient protection barriers on chairs/equipment
  • Sneeze guard shields for the front desk

Sterilization and Disinfection of Patient-Care Items and Devices
All Instruments and equipment used during your care are always sterilized and disinfected to CDC specifications. This ensures proper infection control and the health of our patients and staff. Every item used is opened fresh from a sterilized packet or is a brand-new disposable item. The sterilization process is very rigorous and includes dry heat sterilization (autoclave) and chemical sterilization.

Air Purification
We use multiple HEPA grade air filters throughout the practice to scrub and clean the air multiple times an hour. The UVC Air Scrubber Plus 2 is installed in our HVAC, as well as individual Austin Healthmate Plus UVC machines in each room. We also utilize UVC External Oral Suction units to prevent the spread of droplets and aerosol particles.

Regular Sanitation
Common touchpoints, including seating, workspaces, door handles, railings, and restrooms are sanitized on a regular basis by our team with effective cleaning solutions certified to kill bacteria and viruses.

Our entire operatory is disinfected after every appointment with EPA registered cleaning agents to kill viruses and bacteria. we use a cold fog of Hypochlorous Acid to sanitize each room thoroughly. We also utilize Crosstex Dentapure water line cleaners to sanitize all water.

Thank you for your continued trust and confidence in our team. Together, we can overcome these circumstances and continue your path to greater health. We look forward to taking care of you at your next appointment and wish you and your family the very best.
